SALES SUPPORT SPECIALIST

SUMMARY:

Primary responsibility is to provide excellent customer service and build customer relations through courteous and prompt resolution to customers’ questions and problems.  Additional responsibilities include accurate order entry, processing quotations and custom orders, telemarketing functions, expediting orders, internet research, preparing presentations and reports, trade show attendance and providing support to Sales Management team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates order process from receipt through shipment and tracking, including timely and accurate order entry and pro-active review of backlog to ensure timely shipments.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and emails in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Replies to inquiries from customers regarding products and services, and refers sales leads to appropriate outside sales representative, sales manager or distributor. 
  • Provides customers and sales reps with product information and processes requests for product samples and literature.
  • Processes quotations and custom orders, maintains customer data base and assists with expediting of orders.
  • Performs telemarketing duties by contacting leads, existing distributors and potential end users regarding promotions.
  • Assists the Marketing department with follow up on trade show, magazine and phone leads.  Reviews customer mailing material to ensure information and address database is correct.
  • Performs internet research on potential clients and competitors.
  • Creates and updates custom reports and presentations such as, but not limited to, sales recaps, sales activity by region/industry and credit reports using Query Builders, MITS and various Microsoft applications.
  • Receives records, screens processes and distributes incoming mail, phone calls and other documents.
  • Assists Finance department in resolving customer issues as needed.
  • Provides sales and clerical support to Sales Management Team.
  • Maintains office/customer records and performs such clerical tasks as filing, posting, tabulating, word processing and sorting.
  • Represents Pelican at trade shows including booth set up/tear down, recording leads and providing product information.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:

  • A.A. Degree in Business or related field and/or a minimum of two years experience in an office/sales environment.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have excellent customer service, organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Must be proficient with Word, Excel and other appropriate software.
  • Trade show experience preferred; must have the ability to travel occasionally on an as-needed basis. 
  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within time frame specified by Manager.
  • Must be able to operate in a fast-paced organization and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be available to work overtime eon evenings and weekends, with or without advance notice.
  • Ability to speak & write in a second and/or third language helpful but not required.
